Birthday Party

We had a fabulous time on Saturday celebrating Jason's birthday. We were lucky enough to have lots of family join us. We dinned on monster mouths, soup, witch hats and broom sticks, dirt cupcakes with worms, and punch with gummy worms in the ice cubes. My dear friend Catherine was kind enough to make the cute cookies. Benj brought home a pinata that one of his students made at school. All of the kids took turns hitting it and made sure to scoop up all of the candy. We even enjoyed watching a movie on the wall using our projector. Jason loved all of his toys, but has especially loved the binoculars we gave him. He discovered if you look into them backwards everything is really small and clear. As soon as be opened them he ran to the window and said he was looking for owls.... it was great! He loves it. As you can see he even watched most of the movie that way. Thanks again to everyone who came! In Jason's words "I happy, happy, happeeeeee!" We love you all. We are off to go on a bird watching walk.

Happy Birthday Jason!

He is 2! I am in shock. I seriously feel like I just had him and then I stop and think and it is hard to remember life without him in our family. Here are some of my favorite things about my little boy:

  • He is always happy (OK, he does have his moments, but for the most part he is just so happy go lucky)
  • He loves to give mommy and daddy hugs and kisses and he immediately tells us after "I nice!"
  • He is the best runner, jumper, and spinner around. When he is finished spinning he sits down and his eyes keep on spinning. It is probably one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
  • When he sees a toy or a blanket that he has not seen in a while he runs to it, hugs it, kisses it and says "ohhhhh!" It is really cute.
  • He knows he is funny and tries really hard to make people laugh by making a funny face, making a funny noise, doing a trick etc.
  • He loves owls. Often he will all of the sudden stop, put his finger to his lips, and shush us telling us he sees an owl. He puts his cute little hands around his eyes like binoculars and hunts for more.
  • He LOVES his family. I have a photo book he looks at with pictures of everyone in our extended families. Quite often he will go through it and kiss all of the pictures.... "I miss Reece....miss Grampraw....miss Dad."
  • He is full of energy.
  • He loves to sing with me and Benj. Five little monkeys swinging in the tree is his favorite and he can snap those monkeys out of the tree really well.
  • He loves to point out the few letters he knows. " Mama a B!" He knows B, T, O, P, S, E, A, I.... there might be more.
  • He is always making us laugh.
  • He keeps me humble :-)
  • He has great hair! It is super thick and wavy. Someday when he is not terrified cutting or combing it will not look like a mullet.
  • He loves anything that is a baby, or small and he thinks is a baby. He will sign baby and say "ohhhhhh Mama a baby."
  • He has cute little freckles on his face and the bluest eyes around.
  • He still uses sign language, but is getting to be a really good talker too.
  • He loves to paint, color, and use glue.
  • I didn't think he would be, but he is shy. Just you watch out though, when he gets to know you you will be his best friend and he will be his energetic loud self.
  • He is a good helper around the house. He loves to help vacuum, clean, put dishes away...
  • He folds his arms and sits quietly for prayers. When we forget to pray at dinner time he will stop us and fold his arms to remind us even when we are at a restaurant.
I could go on and on :-).
I love my Jason and am so happy to be his mom!

It's pumpkin patch time!

We went with our friends Gabe and Catherine to Lake View Farms. We got to ride a paddle boat to the pumpkin patch and when we were done we rode a train back to the cars. Jason was so excited for the train and loved every second of it.

Digi Scrapbooking

I stumbled onto the best website! I have always loved the idea of scrapbooking, but find myself not patient enough, not creative enough, and frankly too poor to buy all the paper and do da's it requires. Then I caught wind of the digital scrapbooking world and thought that was more up my alley. This website has all sorts of FREE digital kits that you can download. They are beautiful and then best part, I will say it again, FREE!!!!

Go to Shabby Princess and enjoy!~

Accent Wall

I painted! So this is not the best picture and does not do it justice, but you get the point. Thanks for the advice.

Check out Pigtails and Snails. Her quilts are amazing.

Yearbookyourself.com

Benj's sister Jenny did this on her blog and I thought it was hilarious! I have to say I wasted way too much time, but laughed and laughed. The pictures of Jason are the best. Is that what he will look like in 15 years?

Pictures from our week

Here are some pictures from the week. The last picture is for you Grandma Lloyd. Jason found his hat from the reunion and has been very excited to wear it around.

Instructables

If you've never had a chance to check out this cool website you should definitely give it a whirl. Instructables has a huge and growing archive of do-it-yourself projects with step-by-step instructions. It might be extremely useful particularly as you think about your upcoming haloween costumes.
